Knots in the Docks
I often take my camera out looking for specific inspiration.
On one walk around the docks I was dawn to the various ropes and knots and these three emerged from that day.
Fixed Ring is hanging on my wall, one of those I have kept for myself.
Rust and Blue Rope
The contast of the blue rope with the white railings and the rust peeking through caught my eye. These colours were replicated in the background.
Fixed Ring
The iron ring with the black ropes knotted drew my attention. The backgound was inspired by the colour of the warehouses with a replication of the circular pattern.
Shadows Cast
Here it was the mutitude of ropes going to a number of small boats and the shadows cast. Not that succesful as a painting, so probably will need moe thought and development.
Birds on the Canal
A couple of my favourite pieces are these resin works giving and element of movement to the artwork.
These two were hanging in the National Waterways Museum in Gloucester during the summer of 2024 and I have prints are available.
Other birds seen include Ducks, Coots, Herons but I’ve not been inspired yet.
Swan's Flight
After watching the Hemsted cygnets grow up and learn to fly. I was inspired to create this piece. I wanted to illustrate the effort it takes for a swan to lift off while keeping their grace.
Diving Kingfisher
There are kingfishers nesting between Sims and Rea bridge. I have only managed to capture fleeting glimpses. Here I wanted to captue the movement and the colours which are truely glorious.
